Not every video lives on YouTube or TikTok. Sometimes you have a plain, direct link — a .mp4 on a company's press page, an .mp3 episode from a podcast feed, a video file on a file server. VidLoader handles those too: paste the direct link and it downloads the file with a proper progress bar, pause/resume, and a tidy library entry. Here's how.

What counts as a "direct" link?

A direct link points straight at a media file, usually ending in an extension like .mp4, .webm, .mkv, .mp3, .m4a, or .wav — for example https://example.com/videos/keynote-2026.mp4. If opening the link in a browser starts playing or downloading a file, VidLoader can take it from there.

Step 1 — Paste the direct link

Open VidLoader, click Add, and paste the file URL, just like a YouTube link. VidLoader detects that it's a direct file. For video files keep the Video format; for .mp3 or other audio files choose Audio.

Step 2 — Download with full control

Press Download. In the Queue you get the same experience as any other download: live progress, speed, time remaining, and pause/stop buttons — much nicer than a browser's download bar, and big files can be paused and resumed later.

Step 3 — Play it from your library

The file lands in Clips next to your other downloads — video files with a thumbnail, audio files with a waveform tile. Play them in the built-in player or open the file in its folder.
